Restrain poetry

It must be hard

To be silent and quiet

Resisting the many chances

To forcefully strike.

It must be difficult

To not say a thing

Even if your insides itch you to do something.

It must be tough

To just turn your back

Even if you care a lot

And feel hurt and sad.

It must be impossible

To calm your sensitive heart

To just speak with your eyes

Even when words hit like a dart.

But if you take a moment

Just to realize your pride

It’s amazing to restrain

Let there be joy in those eyes.
